West Side Story VS Today's Gangs

A couple of weeks ago at the Enrichment program I go to I was lucky enough to go Stratford to see the brilliant play 'West Side Story'. This play is based on the movie also called West Side Story which is based on the book 'Romeo and Juliet' by William Shakespear.

This movie/play was set to be in aroundthe 1950's. Two rival gangs The Jets (Caucasian) and The Sharks (Puerto Ricans) are out to get a territory, a block of pavement also known as 'The Playground'. During the play two people, Maria and Tony, fall on love. The problem is they are from different gangs and this is not allowed by the other members. They find themselves sourounded by death, violence and somehow peace though to get to the end you have to go through fights, love and a couple of musical numbers too!

Now that I have described the plot to you the real reason for this post was to 'throw' The West Side Story's Gangs in a combat corner against Today's Gangs. To most hearing about gang violence is kind of natural because we live close to Toronto. When many think about making Modern Day Gang's to Old Fashion Gang's many think that today's gang's are tougher, meaner and more terrifying. When you really think about they are truely both the same. They both use/used forms of violence. They both scared people and to most, whether it be now or then, they were terrifying.

My question to you at the end of all this is that....

What Gang's do you think would triumph over another, Modern or Old (West Side Story)? Or do you think that both would have been bad either way?

All Together Now ?

What would you think if all the classes in our school only had a certain place to play/talk/walk on our playground? We already have the two sides now dubbed the "Big Kids Side" and the "Little Kids Side" but what if it were grades? Like the 8th graders by the Peace Garden and the 5th on the soccer field. What would you say or think if that happened?

Being myself I would probably spaz out. I wouldn't be happy that our class (and others) have only ONE space to play/talk/walk in. It would be unfair and cruel and I think I would feel like an animal in an cage because I would be confined to only that space.

If we did have to do that I think I would want our grade near the trees near the corner or out in the field. I think I would want that because they are my two favourite places on the school yard. But why would I want to have a confined space so I could feel like a circus freak?

If we were put in that terrible situation what would you do about it ? Do you think you would say somthing or would you keep your feelings about it to yourself ? And what space would want to go in if that really did happen.

What was it like?

On Tuesday most of us went to the Etienne concert at the Sanderson Center. I, myself, did not go because I was at Enrichment that day. I didn't really know if I wanted to go in the first place because I knew all of his songs (well,not ALL) so I really didn't see the point of going. Tuesday when I came back from Enrichment I heard some students talking about how great the concert was.... I think it would be helpful if you gave me your opinion though!

What do you think the concert was like. Did you like it, hate it or really didn't pay attention. Also, do you think our school got on to Youtube because of our posters. I hope we do because we are just that awsome. All in all, What was it Like?

*DON'T DO IT*

To say the least,all of us get angry. We have have spazzes, we yell and we can be really stubborn. When this happens most of us do really stupid things so for the next few minutes I am going to be you guide on what NOT to do...

While being a spaz please do NOT throw your dog out of a moving car/van/truck. In fact, don't throw your dog out of anything. Why, one day some random scientist is going to make it huge and you just might be thrown out of a window.
Also, it might not be the best idea to grab a hammer and start throwing it aroud. As much as I know you want to, you might hurt someone and that is NOT a good thing. Ok. NOOOOOOOOO. Do not do that. Bad dog, bad dog.
Just one more thing. Do NOT say that you want to move out because some parents might take you seriously. One minute you going on about how your sibling stole your Twinkie and then your moving out of the house to go live with a hobo. Now, we all love Hobos but some of them can smell. And not like daisies. If you do decide to have no brain that day, I suggest that you find 'Mike on a Bike' in Brantford and learn the ropes on being a Hobo.

Now that you know MY tips on how not to become a Hobo and such, what do you think you shouldn't do when you get angry. Explain why.

What do you want ?

Like I said in my "hey and welcome" thing at the side, I will let you chose the topic for my next post. Well, not all of them but the one I find most interesting. While commenting tell me and others why you think that your topic should be on. There is lots of random topics out there so give an original one. Just don't give me your next idea!

Music Monday

As you all know on Music Monday we all have to sing a song. For some older kids, they have to sing it in not only English but in French. In my opinion the song isn't as good as last year but that's just me. Besides singing the song there is also other reasons for Music Monday. Like for instace, all across Canada schools will be joining in on singing the song.

I guess the real reson for this post was to find out how you feel about Music Monday. Do you like the song that we have to sing or do you think that Music Monday is a waste of time ? Comment and tell our class how you feel about Music Monday!

The Best Movie !

In my opinion the best movie ever made was 'Slumdog Millionaire.' Some of you may of not have seen it so I will tell you what it is about...

I won't tell you everything but I will tell you what (kinda) happens. A young kid goes missing from India then magicly appears in America. He gets entered to be a contestent on "Who wants to be a Millionaire" and wins. You see, the only problem is that in India (where he lived before) he had no schooling so everyone wonders how he won. To make things even more complicated he finds his love from India IN America. The movie also has a wonderful music that won Oscars at the Academy Awards. You have to watch the movie to see what happens in the end and I would tell anyone to watch it in an instant.

The real reason for this post is to find out what movie you love and what happens in it. Tell why you love and why you think it is the best movie. My only rule is... Don't give away the ending!

Your dream Puppy

Do any of you out there have a dream puppy that they want? I know I do! If I could have any puppy I wanted in the world it would be a Puggle. Puggles are a mix between Beagles and Pugs. They are the cutest type of dog ever. I would name it Puggsley and give it a really awsome collar. I also wouldn't let Cailyx touch it because I don't want a little sick puppy with rabbies (sorry about that Cailyx.)

Keeping up with all the Technology !

You run up to your friends screaming " I've got an Ipod Nano, I've got an Ipod Nano !" They look at you like your crazy, laugh and all pull out their I Touchs. You then stand there wondering how you missed that Ipod Nanos are 'out'. How you CAN'T keep up with all of this new technology.

The main point is that there is too much technology. One day your new phone is in and the next it's out. Also, they cost SO much. You can't afford to buy one so you save up to get it and then you go to the store and guess what? The new, more expensive one is 'in'. After awhile you just stop and keep the phone. But then people laugh at you because your still not 'in style'.

There is to much technology out there and it's all expensive. In my opinion you shouldn't have to by things to make you cool. You also should be able to buy you phone, Ipod, e.c.t WITHOUT people laughing at you.

Hey it's me, Coven and as most of you heard I made the badmiton team!
Just thinking about some random thngs and than I thoght what would happen if people had their own team, with their own players from anywhere. Like, pick the players and the sport they play even if the sport wasn't real.
